Why I Launched JQL Wealth
After more than 12 years in wealth management — working at a large bank and independent RIAs — I reached a turning point. I saw how often good people approached retirement with substantial savings, but without a clear strategy for turning those savings into sustainable, tax-efficient income. I wanted to build something different. More personal. More focused. More intentional.
JQL Wealth is named after my three children—Jack, Quinn, and Laney. Their initials remind me every day of the responsibility and privilege I have to help others build a secure future. It’s a name grounded in purpose and family, and that’s exactly how I think financial planning should feel.
Building Something More Personal
Over the years, I learned a simple truth: bigger isn’t better in this business. Managing hundreds of relationships may look impressive, but it makes it nearly impossible to deliver thoughtful, proactive guidance — especially during the years that matter most.
At JQL Wealth, I intentionally work with a limited number of families. That’s not a constraint. It’s the model.
It allows me to:
Lead every meeting personally
Stay deeply familiar with every plan
Be proactive instead of reactive
Because retirement planning — particularly the 5–10 years before you stop working — requires focus and precision.
Advice Rooted in Real Relationships
I operate as an independent, fee-only fiduciary. That means no commissions, no product sales, and no outside agendas. What I recommend for you is what I would do in the same situation.
True financial planning goes beyond investments. It’s about coordinating income, tax strategy, Roth conversion windows, Medicare timing, estate coordination, and the transition from accumulation to distribution. I partner with trusted CPAs and estate attorneys when needed — but I remain your central point of accountability and strategy.
Our Process
Our work together follows a clear, three-step framework:
1. Discovery
We define your goals, timeline, and what retirement needs to look like for you.
2. Strategy & Design
We build a coordinated plan around income, taxes, investments, and timing.
3. Implementation & Ongoing Guidance
We execute the strategy and adapt as life evolves
Our Approach
As a CFP® professional and fiduciary, I am committed to putting your interests first.
Our investment philosophy is:
Low cost
Tax-efficient
Evidence-based
But investments are only one part of the equation.
The real work is helping you decide:
When does work become optional?
How do we minimize lifetime tax drag?
How do we create sustainable income with confidence?
If you’re within 5–10 years of retirement and want a structured, thoughtful approach to this transition, let’s talk.
